International Quality of Life Awards

The International Quality of Life Awards honors people and partnerships who have made significant and lasting contributions to individual, family, and community well-being locally and around the world. While working for Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, who launched the award in 1994 in conjunction with the United Nations' International Year of the Family, Aaron was given the opportunity to re-brand IQLA. The new brand uses two typefaces that not only recall the past but look forward to the future while the logo itself resembles the prestigious and beautifully hand-crafted award the laureates receive.

The laureate for 2015 was John R. Lewis, a civil rights icon, and U.S. Representative, Georgia's 5th Congressional District. Often called "one of the most courageous persons the Civil Rights Movement ever produced," Aaron was truly honored to be able to develop the event packaging that would celebrate this man’s achievements. The inspiration for the hand-drawn march over the Selma bridge came from John Lewis’s #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel memoir trilogy, “MARCH.” This gritty look into the civil rights movement led to the designs hard lines and textures that would be featured through the materials. This inspiration coupled with the newly created IQLA brand led to designs worthy of celebrating all that John R. Lewis has accomplished.
